Like most of the covers I do for German Blu Ray distributors, The Orphan Killer has been rendered in an aggressive, brutal style. Well, as brutal and aggressive as it can be considering I’m a total pussy who dreads his wife finding paint on his clothes!
It’s true that if you put these covers up against the carefully created, time intensive ones done for companies like Shout Factory they don’t come off so well; however they have that strong painterly style which makes alla prima oil paintings so collectable.
As I’ve said many times before, I love those vibrant horror paintings at the start of Rod Sterling’s ’70’s show Night Gallery and I think these German covers would have suited that series perfectly, albeit toned down a bit!
